Swath pick-up

The swath pick-up is designed for threshing seed grasses, legumes, cereals from desiccated shafts.

The swath pick-up is designed for picking up swaths of previously mown crops with the SWATCH, e.g. rape, mustard, broad beans, buckwheat or seed grass. The machine has been designed to cope with crops that are easy to pick up, have a high degree of weed infestation and mature unevenly.

The machine comes in two versions: 3.4 m or 4.3 m wide.

The swath pick-up uses a rubber belt, approximately one metre long, with pairs of fingers spring-mounted to it. These feed the harvesting mass into the auger which narrows its flow.

There is also an apron between one component and the other. This prevents the fingers from pulling the material back into the stubble. The pick-up requires only one pair of hydraulic connections to power the orbital motor driving the belt.

Picking up swaths with a standard harvester with a cutterbar results in the grain falling to the ground. In addition, the equipment is constantly in contact with uneven ground, leaving it vulnerable to damage. The pick-up, on the other hand, is positioned at the correct height in relation to the ground, with only the pick-up fingers made of flexible plastic coming into contact with the ground. This makes it possible to work at higher speeds of up to 14 km/h.

Adjusting the speed of the swath pick-up belt

This conveyor uses the hoses that, in the case of a traditional grain header, are responsible for setting the motive power of the belt. As a result, we can adjust the belt speed as required or set it to automatic mode, where its speed is synchronised with that of the combine harvester. The worm-finger feeder is driven by a Cardan shaft connected on the left side.

The swath pick-up can be adapted to any brand of combine harvester.
